Jaredite Barges Crossing the Sea With Whale and Fish

Two covered boats sit stacked in the middle of a stormy sea, each cut open so you can see inside. The top boat holds a boy with a cow, sheep, a goat and a chicken on one side, and on the other a woman and girl at a small round table with a man, a pregnant woman and another child standing nearby. The lower boat shows hanging bats or birds, a hen with chicks, a family at a table, a woman holding a baby, and rows of tally marks on the wall. Outside, a big whale with an open mouth, a squid, a dolphin, a sea turtle, striped fish, seagulls and swirling waves fill the page. Try coloring the water in several blues and greens so the boats stand out, then ask kids to count the tally marks and talk about how long a trip might take. This printable also works well for a Bible story lesson on faith during a journey.
