Jesus Praying in the Garden While Disciples Sleep

A long-haired, bearded man in a flowing robe kneels near a grassy rock, his hands pressed together on top of it and his face turned upward. Thick trees, leafy bushes and branches fill the space around him, drawn with lots of short, scratchy lines. Farther back on the right, three figures in head coverings rest on the ground, with one leaning on his arm and another sitting with his hand near his chin. On the distant hill, a row of flat-roofed buildings sits behind the trees. Because this page is filed under Good Friday, it could start a quiet talk about the story before the cross. For coloring, try soft greens and browns for the garden and cooler, darker shades for the sleeping figures far back, so the praying man stands out up front. Fine-tip pencils work well for all the leaf details.
