Decorating the Classroom with Hearts for Teacher Appreciation Day

A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.

• sky blue
• pale yellow
• bright red
• beige
• denim blue
• burnt orange
• light gray
• golden yellow
• peach skin
• pale sky blue
• rose pink
• soft yellow

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.

1. 1Start with the big background areas: fill the walls with pale yellow and the floor and ceiling corners with beige, leaving the ceiling tiles at the top white.
2. 2Color the window panes and the blue rug next with sky blue, keeping the polka dots on the rug white.
3. 3Fill the faces and hands with peach skin, then color the boy's pants and the standing girl's jeans with denim blue.
4. 4Color the sweaters: rose pink for the standing girl, lavender purple for the girl holding the heart, bright red for the boy on the right, grass green for the boy's hoodie, and golden yellow for the curly-haired girl's top.
5. 5Add the hearts in bright red, pink, rose pink and coral red, color the big frame bright red and the star golden yellow.
6. 6Finish with the wooden desk, crate and cabinet in burnt orange and the plant leaves in grass green. Optional: add a little darker shade along one side of each heart for depth.
