Leaning back in a cozy armchair, a fluffy, wide-eyed spider knits a long chunky scarf with two needles. The scarf drapes over the front of the chair and ends in a fringe, and a strand of yarn runs off to a ball of yarn on an oval rug. Behind the chair there's a framed flower picture on the wall, a potted leafy plant on a small side table and a window with puffy clouds outside. The spider has a big smile, long eyelashes and striped, jointed legs, so there are lots of different areas to color. Purple or soft pink works for the fuzzy body, and a rainbow of stripes on the scarf makes the knitted texture stand out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the armchair back, both armrests, the seat and the chair legs with golden yellow, leaving small gaps for the outlines to stand out.
- 2Fill the spider's round head and body with lavender, keeping the two big eye whites and the small eye shine spots white.
- 3Color all eight spider legs soft purple, then add the dusty mauve shadows right under the body and between the legs.
- 4Fill the rug with pale teal in the center and dark teal on the outer ring, then color the yarn ball light blue and the yarn thread dark teal.
- 5Color the plant leaves and the window bushes leafy green, the plant pot soft pink, and the picture frame, window sill and table warm tan. Leave the wall and the scarf white.
- 6Optional: Color the spider's smile rose pink, then add a little light blue to the window panes and the picture inside the frame for a cozy finish.
