A large, symmetrical snowflake takes up the center of the page, with a small hexagon at its heart holding a six-pointed star. Six main arms reach outward, each one built from angular, gem-like crystal shapes. Branching twigs and diamonds run along the arms, and the tips finish in faceted points. An oval ring of tiny snowflakes, alternating with little five-pointed stars, surrounds it all. All those facets mean lots of separate sections to fill in, which suits patient colorers who enjoy fine detail. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the long main arms and the central shaft of the snowflake with royal blue, leaving the outlines and the small side spikes white.
- 2Color the six-sided center frame and the thin diamond shapes along the shaft with pale ice blue, keeping the star in the middle white.
- 3Fill the pointed tips at the top, bottom and outer ends with bright turquoise and bright blue to make them look like glowing crystals.
- 4Add medium sky blue to the star-shaped crystals on the arms and the small crystal shapes near the middle of each branch.
- 5Optional: Add a few darker strokes of bright blue along one side of the big tips to suggest a light shine.
