There's a lot of motion on this page. A happy kitten springs up with one paw reaching for a big striped beach ball. It has large round eyes, long whiskers, an open smile and a tall curly tail. A simple wooden picket fence stands behind it, and the garden below has grass tufts plus three flowers, one big and two small. The ball is made of wide curved panels with a little circle on top, which makes it easy to fill in. Chunky crayons will handle the open shapes well, while the petals and fence boards give older kids smaller spots to tackle. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the kitten's body, tail, and raised paws in orange, leaving the small highlights in the eyes white.
- 2Color the beach ball with alternating bright blue, grass green, bright red, and lemon yellow panels, with a lemon yellow center.
- 3Fill the fence posts and rails in warm tan, keeping the gaps between the boards white.
- 4Add soft pink to the inside of both ears and the open mouth.
- 5Color the flower petals in soft pink and bright blue, then fill the leaves and flower centers with grass green and lemon yellow.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker orange along the underside of the kitten and the tail for a bit of depth. Leave the grass and background white.
