Beside the thick trunk of a big tree sits a small bunny with tall upright ears, whiskers on each cheek and a gentle smile. The tree's puffy, cloud-like crown is full of outlined leaves, and more leaves drift down through the air around the bunny. A heaped carpet of fallen leaves covers the ground around the roots. The trunk has simple bark lines and two branches splitting off beneath the crown, leaving plenty of room for crayons or markers. Little ones can fill the large leaves quickly, and older kids can work on the bark and the leaf pile. Oranges, reds and yellows suit the leaves, with soft gray or light brown for the bunny. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big tree crown and fill it with grass green, leaving the background white.
- 2Color the tree trunk and both branches with chestnut brown, then fill the bunny's body, tail and front paws with light tan.
- 3Give the bunny's inner ears a coral pink color, and keep its eyes and nose white or lightly outlined.
- 4Color the crown leaves with lemon yellow, golden yellow and tangerine orange, mixing a few bright red leaves among them.
- 5Fill the pile of fallen leaves on the ground and the falling leaves in the air with golden yellow, tangerine orange, vivid orange, burnt orange and bright red.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading along one side of the trunk and the crown to give the tree more depth.
