A smiling little vampire crouches in the pumpkin patch with pointy ears, tiny fangs and a high-collared cape. One hand holds a ribbed pumpkin and the other grips the handle of a big wooden bucket that's already full of pumpkins. One more large pumpkin sits in the front corner, and others peek in from the left and right edges along with curly vines and leafy plants. Two bare trees, small bushes, a crescent moon and scattered stars fill the night sky behind. Small hands will like the wide, open shapes, while older kids can spend time on the ridges of the pumpkins. You could go with deep purple and black for the cape, a bright red collar lining, and a mix of oranges and yellows on the pumpkins. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the vampire's face, ears, and hands in pale green, leaving the eye whites and the little fang gap white.
- 2Color the big pumpkins, the one he holds, and the ones in the basket and on the sides in orange, leaving small gaps for the highlights.
- 3Fill the basket with brown, using darker brown for the bottom rim and the planks.
- 4Color the cape in charcoal gray, then add red to the lining and the high collar, and a butter yellow button at the throat.
- 5Add the leaves in leaf green, golden yellow, and crimson red, plus the bushes and the tree trunks in brown and the stems in chestnut brown.
- 6Optional: Leave the moon, stars, and tree branches white, and add a little darker shading on the cape and pumpkins for depth.
