In the middle of this underwater scene floats a smiling little mermaid with big sparkly eyes and rosy cheeks. She wears a shell crown with small beads in her wavy hair, has tiny round hands, and her scaly tail curves down below her. A happy crab waves its claws on the left while a striped clownfish swims in from the right. Along the bottom you'll spot a closed treasure chest with a keyhole, seaweed, a big scallop shell, a spiral shell and a few pebbles on the sand. Round bubbles of different sizes fill the water. Large, simple shapes make this free printable a good match for younger children with chunky crayons. Teal or purple would suit the mermaid's tail, and bright orange makes the clownfish pop against blue water. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the face, both hands and the fins with peach skin, keeping the two eye whites white.
- 2Color the hair and the upper hair edges with coral orange, then the crab and its claws with salmon pink.
- 3Color the mermaid tail with light teal on the scales and mint green on the fin, adding deep teal at the bottom of the tail.
- 4Color the treasure chest in chocolate brown and add golden yellow to the lid trim, lock and corners, then fill the seaweed with leaf green.
- 5Color the crown shells and bottom shells in lavender purple, the bubbles in sky blue, the clownfish stripes in ocean blue, and the cheeks in rose pink. Optional: add a few darker strokes in the same colors to give the shells and tail some depth.
