A big smiling mother frog with long lashes and round sparkly eyes sits behind three baby frogs lined up side by side on a large lily pad. The pad floats on rippling water. Each baby has a happy grin and big eyes, while Mom shows off a few spots and a round belly. Tall cattails and leafy grass rise on both sides of the pond, and three smiling dragonflies hover in the sky. Wide shapes and clear outlines keep it easy for little hands, and the reeds and spots give older kids something to work on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the lily pad and the grass base at the bottom using grass green, leaving the thin water lines white.
- 2Fill the big mother frog, her arms and legs, and the three baby frogs with light green.
- 3Color the mother frog's belly with pale yellow, keeping the bright eye whites white.
- 4Use lime green and grass green for the tall grass blades, and chestnut brown for the cattail heads.
- 5Paint the dragonfly wings sky blue and the dragonfly bodies golden yellow, leaving small white gaps in the wings.
- 6Optional: add a few light gray strokes on one side of the grass blades for a bit of shading.
