In the middle of this page, a smiling mother hen has one wing wrapped around a little chick that peeks out from underneath. Three more fluffy chicks crowd close. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color all the chicks' bodies, wings and heads with lemon yellow, leaving the feet and the eye whites white.
- 2Fill the big hen body and lower belly with light cream, letting the cream show around the chicks.
- 3Color the hen's head caramel orange and her wings and tail feathers warm brown.
- 4Color the hen's comb and wattle bright red, the beak golden yellow, and the tongue coral pink.
- 5Leave the small white shine spots in the hen's eyes and the grass and ground under the chicks white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker brown along the edges of the wings and a touch of extra orange under the hen's head for depth.
