Mouse Painting an Easter Egg on a Mushroom

Coloring guide
Perched on top of a big spotted mushroom, a smiling little mouse holds a paintbrush in one paw and steadies a large egg with the other. The egg already has wavy stripes, a row of circles and a few small dots, but there's still plenty of room for your own patterns. Look for the big round ears, whiskers, bright eyes and a long tail tied with a pretty bow. At the bottom, a pot of paint with drips down its side sits beside tufts of grass. Soft pink or lavender would look pretty on the egg stripes, and bright red on the mushroom cap makes the white spots pop. The large shapes and clear outlines are a good fit for preschoolers and early elementary kids. Download it as a free PDF for a screen-free afternoon. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big mushroom cap in bright red, coloring around the white spots so they stay empty.
- 2Fill the mouse's body, head, arm, ears and tail with light gray, leaving the eye whites and the inner ear areas for later.
- 3Color the mushroom stem and gills in cream, then the honey pot in royal blue with golden yellow honey dripping over the top.
- 4Paint the Easter egg in stripes: grass green on top, light blue and bright sky blue bands in the middle, and hot pink at the bottom, with golden yellow wavy stripes between them.
- 5Add lavender purple dots on the middle blue band and soft pink on the bow, nose and curved stick, keeping the eye highlights white.
- 6Finish with the bow in golden yellow, the paintbrush handle in light gray and head in chocolate brown, and the grass in grass green. Optional: add a little darker gray shading under the mouse for depth.
