Mystery Paw Prints and a Puppy Dog Pals Detective
Coloring guide
Wearing a checkered deerstalker detective cap, a curious puppy leans over a magnifying glass to study a trail of paw prints across a grassy yard. The pup has big floppy ears, wide eyes, a small collar with a round tag and a wagging tail. Back behind it are a wooden fence, a leafy tree on the left, a bush and a little doghouse with an arched doorway. A bone sticks out of a mound of dirt in the bottom corner, which lets kids guess what the mystery is. This free printable mixes big shapes with small details, so it works from preschool through early elementary. A classic red and brown plaid would suit the cap, with golden fur for the puppy and rich brown for the dirt pile. Don't forget green crayons for the grass tufts! A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big dog body and head in light orange, leaving the two eye whites bare so the puppy looks bright and friendly.
- 2Color the tree trunk and the tree branch in warm brown, then fill the doghouse roof edges and walls in red and the door in dark brown.
- 3Fill the detective hat with royal blue and medium blue, alternating the checkered panels so the plaid pattern shows.
- 4Color the fence pickets and the fence behind the dog in honey orange, then add bright green to the grass and the bush at the top right.
- 5Use chocolate brown for the paw prints and the dirt mound, and color the bone in cream with a light blue magnifying glass lens.
- 6Optional: Add a little extra warmth by adding a touch of gold to the dog tag and a darker shade of light orange to the dog's ears for depth.
