Owl Holding a Heart on a Branch, Thank You Cards
Coloring guide
A big-eyed baby owl perches on a leafy tree branch, holding a heart to its chest with one wing. Its feet grip the branch, its head tilts a little, and it wears a small smile. Scalloped feather patterns cover the belly, and a tiny tuft of feathers sticks up on top of the head. In the night sky behind it you'll see a crescent moon and four small stars, and more leafy branches frame the corners. Large open spaces on the wings and heart are easy for small hands, while the feathers and leaves give older kids detail to work on. A bright pink or red heart will stand out nicely, with soft browns for the owl and deep greens for the leaves. This free printable suits a handmade thank you card or a quiet afternoon activity. This fits right in with our Thank You Cards coloring pages — see also Hearts and Cute.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the owl's head, both wings, and the tree branch with light brown, leaving the eye whites and the small eye shines white.
- 2Color the owl's face and round belly with cream, keeping the big eye whites bright.
- 3Add dark brown to the wing feathers, the tail feathers, and the lower parts of the wings for depth.
- 4Color all the leaves with leaf green and the beak and the small stars with lemon yellow.
- 5Fill the heart with bright red and the owl's toes and claws with golden yellow.
- 6Optional: add a few light strokes of darker brown along the branch and the edges of the leaves to make them look more dimensional.
