Painting the Theater Sign: Koala on a Ladder in Sing (movie)

Standing on a step ladder in overalls, a smiling koala holds a paintbrush up to a big blank sign above a theater entrance. That empty sign is a great spot for kids to add their own lettering, a movie title, or a picture. The building has a domed, striped roof topped with a round ball, a row of circle lights, and star decorations on the curved walls. Double doors and tall windows sit below the sign. On the ground you'll see two paint buckets with drips down the sides, a spare brush, small bushes and a few scattered stars. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the dome: color its stripes alternately sunny yellow and bright red, and the finial on top in golden yellow.
- 2Fill the round band under the dome with bright red and sunny yellow dots, then color the walls and pillars in cream and the sign frame edge in crimson red. Leave the sign panel in the middle white.
- 3Paint the koala in light gray, including the head, ears, arm and paws, then add royal blue overalls with a bib and pocket.
- 4Color the doors and windows in sky blue with royal blue at the door bottoms, and add grass green bushes and pale green grass at the sides.
- 5Color the ladder in wood tan and burnt orange, then fill the paint bucket with royal blue and sunny yellow paint, and the small can with tomato red paint. Finish with the stars in golden yellow and lemon yellow and the brush handle in burnt orange.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of the same color along the dome and the bucket to give a little shading.
