Five penguins squeeze in close for this sweet family portrait. Two big adults stand in back with their heads tilted toward each other, a medium-sized young one waits on the left, and two fluffy chicks with feathery, textured tummies stand right in front. All of them have big round eyes and small beaks, and the chicks sport tiny tufts of fluff on their heads. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the sea on both sides of the scene with sky blue, and color the iceberg and its peak with pale ice blue.
- 2Color the back of the big penguin and the right penguin's back with dark gray, and the left penguin's back with slate gray.
- 3Fill the two fluffy chicks' bodies and the middle chick's head with light gray, leaving their faces white.
- 4Color the right penguin's belly and the left penguin's neck with cream, keeping the big penguin's belly and the eye whites white.
- 5Add the beaks and feet in bright orange, and color the left penguin's foot with copper brown.
- 6Optional: add a little charcoal shading along the dark backs and under the bellies to make the penguins pop, and keep the ice shelf at the bottom white.
