Penguin Parents and Chick on an Ice Floe, Animals Coloring
Coloring guide
Two tall penguins lean their heads toward one another, and a fluffy baby penguin stands between them, looking up with its beak slightly open. All three share a chunky block of ice floating in rippling water. On the horizon are two small icebergs and a couple of flat ice patches, and six snowflakes of different sizes drift across the sky. The parents have smooth bodies with big simple shapes that are easy to fill in, while the chick's feathery texture gives older kids some detail to work on. Soft grays and blues suit the parents' backs, and a warm, fuzzy gray helps the chick stand out. Download the free PDF for an easy afternoon activity. It belongs to our Animals coloring pages collection, and Puppies and Cats are worth a look too.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big penguin bellies and faces with cream yellow, and leave the eye whites and small shine spots white.
- 2Fill the backs, wings and the top of the chick's head with charcoal gray, including the dark neck area between the penguins.
- 3Color the chick's body and wing with light gray, keeping its eyes and beak neat.
- 4Color the beaks and all the feet with bright orange.
- 5Fill the icebergs, the ice floe blocks and the small ice chip with pale ice blue, and use very light blue for the water near the feet. Color the sea between the penguins with ocean blue and the bottom edge of the ice floe with bright blue.
- 6Optional: add a few light strokes of darker tone along the penguins' backs and the chick's head to give them a little depth.
