A fluffy kitten with big sparkling eyes and an open, smiling mouth crouches low, tail curled high, front paws pressed into a thick heap of fallen leaves. More leaves tumble through the air around it, and little motion lines show them swirling down. On the right, a tree trunk rises next to a small pumpkin with tufts of grass at its base. The leaves come in different shapes and have lots of veins, so there's plenty to color. Kids who like fine detail can take their time on the pile in front, while the kitten's smooth fur is easy for younger children. Warm oranges, reds and golden yellows for the leaves, a bright orange pumpkin and a gray or ginger kitten will all stand out. Print this sheet at home and keep a few spare copies nearby. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the cat's head, back, tail and body with light orange, leaving the whiskers, eye whites and chest fur white.
- 2Fill the front paw with tomato red and the right paw with cream beige, then add a coral pink tongue.
- 3Color most of the fallen leaves in the pile with butter yellow and golden yellow, mixing in tomato red and deep red leaves.
- 4Color the pumpkins bright orange with a chocolate brown stem, and fill the grass on both sides with grass green.
- 5Finish the falling leaves in the air with a mix of bright orange, tomato red and butter yellow, keeping the background white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading with the same color along the cat's back and under the leaves to give them depth.
