Crosswalk Helper: Officer and Police Car Near the School
Coloring guide
Standing in the middle of a crosswalk, a smiling police officer holds an octagonal stop sign in one hand and raises the other palm to halt traffic. Three schoolchildren walk past him: a boy, a girl with a ponytail and skirt, and a curly-haired girl whose backpack has a flower on it. Behind them a police car with a light bar and badge emblem is parked near a big leafy tree, a flag pole, a fence, and a flower bush. A school building with a clock above the double doors fills the background. There's plenty of detail here for kids to work on. Deep blue for the car and uniform with bright mixed colors on the backpacks makes the kids pop. It works well for road safety and community helper lessons. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: fill the tree leaves, bushes and hedges with grass green, and the tree trunk with chocolate brown.
- 2Color the school building soft gold, its roof brick red, and the police car body charcoal with its windows light blue.
- 3Paint the road and sidewalks with light gray and medium gray, and leave the crosswalk stripes white.
- 4Color the officer's uniform and sleeves medium blue, his pants, tie and cap navy blue, and his face and hands peach.
- 5Fill the children's clothes: the boy's jacket bright red and jeans denim blue, the girl's jacket hot pink with a purple skirt, and the right girl's sweater bright yellow with her curly hair dark brown.
- 6Optional: add a few darker shadows under the car and bushes, and keep the eye whites, the light bar and the cloud white for sparkle.
