In this one, a smiling princess with long wavy hair and a heart-topped tiara rides in an ornate sleigh, holding the reins while two cheerful reindeer pull her along. She's wearing a fluffy fur-trimmed cape over her gown, and a wrapped gift peeks out from the back of the sleigh. The side of the sleigh has a snowflake in the middle, swirly scrollwork and a row of round beads along the edge. Both reindeer have big antlers, round noses and jingle bells on their collars, and they look like they're caught mid-leap. Snowy hills, three small pine trees and lots of little stars fill the background. There's plenty of open space here for crayons or markers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: leave the snow and the snowy hills white, then fill the small trees with forest green.
- 2Color both reindeer with warm tan for the bodies and heads, and use caramel brown and dark chocolate brown for the legs and hooves.
- 3Fill the princess's cape and dress with holly red and bright red, and color her face and hands with light peach, leaving the fur trim white.
- 4Color the sleigh panels holly red and its trim, runners and bells with golden yellow, and add medium brown to the reins and harness straps.
- 5Use soft pink for the reindeer ears and muzzles, pale yellow for the tiara and hair, and sky blue for the gift bow.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading in the shadows under the reindeer and the folds of the red cape to make the picture pop.
