Baking Gingerbread Cookies for Princess Christmas
Coloring guide
This kitchen scene stars a smiling girl in a heart-topped crown who is rolling out cookie dough with a big rolling pin. Her dress has puffy sleeves, her apron has a little heart on the front, and her long wavy hair falls past her shoulders. On the counter in front of her sit a star cookie cutter and a gingerbread man cutter, with scattered dots of flour around them. A baking tray on the right holds finished star and gingerbread man cookies. In the back there's a mixing bowl with a spoon, an arched window, and a shelf with a potted plant and a lidded jar. Large shapes and clear outlines work for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the smaller details keep older kids busy too. Golden-brown crayons are a good pick for the cookies, and soft pink for the apron. Print or download it free to add to your growing collection. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big areas: fill the princess's dress, sleeves and apron with light pink, and the rolled dough on the counter with pale butter yellow.
- 2Color the face and arms with peach skin, leaving the small eye whites and the bright highlights in the hair white.
- 3Use chestnut brown for the hair and espresso brown for the shadowed parts, then add the purple apron ties, bow and suspenders.
- 4Fill the crown and star cookies with golden yellow, and color the gingerbread men and the caramel rolling pin and bowl details.
- 5Add the leaf green plant, pink plant pot, blue cookie cutters and sky blue window panes, keeping the bowl body white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the hair and dress folds to make the colors pop.
