The star here is a rocket built from a ribbed pumpkin, with a curly pumpkin stem on top. A smiling child peeks out of a round porthole that has a ring of little rivets around it. Two curved fins flank the rocket, and a banded engine base at the bottom shoots out a big, flickering flame with a few loose drops trailing behind. In the night sky, a striped ringed planet floats in the upper left, with stars of different sizes and small dots all around. The big shapes and open spaces make coloring easy for little hands. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the pumpkin-shaped rocket body: color the whole large body and its top ridges in tomato red, leaving the porthole ring area for later.
- 2Color the two fins and the stem in sky blue, leaving the thin highlight edges on the stem tip white if you like.
- 3Fill the big flames under the rocket with bright orange, then add amber to the smaller flame tips and flame bits near the bottom.
- 4Color the round window rim, the rivet dots, the base band and the stars in golden yellow, keeping the small circles white.
- 5Paint the planet with medium purple and lavender stripes, leaving the thin gap lines in the ring white.
- 6Finish the face in light peach, add dark brown hair, and fill the bottom edge of the window in ochre brown. Optional: add a little darker shading along the edges of the rocket body for depth.
