Behind a rainbow, a sun with a big open smile peeks out, its triangular rays fanning around a round face. The rainbow is made of five curved bands, numbered 1 through 5 from the outer band in to the inner one. The sun's cheek has a 6 on it. A smiling cloud with rosy cheeks sits at each end of the rainbow, and both clouds are marked 7. With only seven numbers and just a few spaces to fill, this color by number page works nicely for kids learning to count up to seven. Make your own color key, maybe red for 1, orange for 2 and yellow for 3, and keep going from there. Sunny yellow suits the sun, and light blue is a good match for both clouds. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sun face and fill it with golden yellow, leaving the eye whites and the number 6 white.
- 2Color both clouds baby blue, keeping the numbers 7 and the eye whites white.
- 3Fill the rainbow bands one at a time: tomato red on the outer arc, then orange, golden yellow, grass green, and bright blue on the innermost arc.
- 4Color all the sun rays orange, including the ones peeking out behind the rainbow.
- 5Color the smiles of the sun and both clouds coral pink, then leave the background white.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shade along the edges of the rainbow bands and the sun for a bit of depth.
