Savanna Scene With a Lion Resting Under an Acacia
Coloring guide
A friendly male lion with a big fluffy mane lies on the grass, front paws stretched out ahead and his tail curled beside his back leg. He gazes out at you with round eyes, a small nose and whiskers. A wide acacia tree with a flat, cloud-like top spreads its branches behind him, and a smiling sun with short rays shines in the upper corner. Faraway hills line the horizon, and little tufts of grass dot the ground. All those pointed tufts in the mane make it a good spot for careful strokes. Use golden yellow and orange for the mane and body, darker brown on the tail tip, and a bright green for the grass. Save it as a free PDF for a quick coloring break any time. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- golden yellow
- leafy green
- chestnut brown
- sky blue
- lime green
- cream
- dark brown
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the tree canopy and the tufts of grass: color the big tree top in leafy green and the grass in lime green, leaving the tree trunk and branches white.
- 2Next, color the hills on both sides of the lion in sky blue, and leave the background sky white.
- 3Fill the lion's body, back haunch, front and back paws, tail and ears in golden yellow.
- 4Color the lion's mane in chestnut brown, and the tail tip too, so the mane frames the face.
- 5Add the cream muzzle, chin and cheeks, then color the nose in dark brown.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of chestnut brown or dark brown in the mane and shoulders to give the lion a little depth.
