Side by Side: Rusty Rivets and Ruby With Gadgets
Coloring guide
Rusty Rivets and his friend Ruby Fixit stand next to each other, both smiling and looking ready to build something. On the left, Ruby has a big checkered bow in her hair, a boxy gadget in one hand and a small tool in the other, and a heart-shaped buckle on her belt. On the right, Rusty has goggles pushed up on his spiky hair, a lightning bolt on his shirt, one hand on his hip and a small device lifted in the other. No background is drawn, so the characters take center stage. Yellow works well for Rusty's lightning bolt, and pink or red for Ruby's heart buckle. Goggles, belts and sneakers give you lots of small spots for markers or colored pencils. This free printable is a fun one to grab. Love this Rusty Rivets coloring page? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the skin on both faces, necks, and hands using peach, and leave the eye whites, teeth, and shiny spots white.
- 2Color the girl's shirt and sleeves cream, and the boy's t-shirt sky blue, keeping the small shine lines on his shirt white.
- 3Fill the girl's jeans with denim blue and the boy's pants with olive green, leaving the little light streaks on the legs white.
- 4Color the boy's hair golden yellow with a leaf green streak, and the girl's hair and ponytail chocolate brown, leaving the bright hair highlights white.
- 5Add the goggle lenses in turquoise, the goggle straps and belt buckles in golden yellow, and the tablet in bright blue with its screen left white.
- 6Optional: Add darker shading in navy blue along the shirt edges, and warm gray on the shoes and gadgets for a bit of depth.
