Santa Claus Waving From a Sleigh Above the Village
Coloring guide
A smiling Santa waves one hand high as his sleigh glides through the night sky over a snow-covered village. The sleigh has a big wreath with a bow on its side and curly scrolled runners, and a sack at the back overflows with wrapped presents and a teddy bear. Five reindeer leap ahead in a line wearing collars with jingle bells, and the two closest have round noses. Swirly clouds, scattered stars and a large cratered moon fill the sky behind them. Along the bottom of the page you'll find rooftops with chimneys, a church steeple, pine trees, a winding road and a street lamp. Red for Santa's suit, warm browns for the reindeer, deep blue for the sky and yellow for the moon and stars make a good combo. Download the free PDF for a fun afternoon project. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with Santa's suit and the sleigh: color his red coat, hat, and sleeves bright red, and the sleigh body bright red too, leaving the white hat trim, beard, and cuffs uncolored.
- 2Color the reindeer in caramel brown, and paint the sleigh runners and trim golden yellow, with the blue sled runner at the bottom.
- 3Fill the sky in pale blue, and add sky blue to the distant hills and the blue tree tops in the village.
- 4Color the gift sack in chocolate brown, the teddy bear in caramel brown, and the moon in soft gold, then add the gift ribbon in royal blue.
- 5Use forest green for the evergreen trees and icy white for the snowy rooftops, leaving chimney tops and house walls white where they are snowy.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading under the reindeer and along the sleigh edges to make the drawing feel more lively.
