A happy sea turtle glides through the water on this free printable page, glancing back with big round eyes and a wide smile. The shell is divided into hexagon-style sections that each carry a number, and the flippers have small oval spots to fill in too. Three little fish swim close by: one at the top left, one at the top right and one beneath the turtle. Bubbles rise through the water, and tall curved seaweed grows from a sandy seabed in the bottom corners. Numbers 1 through 7 appear in every section, so kids get number practice while they color. Two or three shades of green and brown look good on the shell, and bright orange and yellow make the fish stand out against a blue sea. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big turtle shell: color the center hexagons and the outer ring in leaf green and forest green, using yellow green for the bright middle scutes.
- 2Fill the large front flipper and the back flipper with lime green, then add dark green spots on the flipper shapes.
- 3Color the little orange fish with orange and its fins with the same orange, and the blue fish with bright blue for the body and sky blue accents.
- 4Paint the seaweed in leaf green and the sea bubbles in light blue so the underwater scene comes alive.
- 5Color the yellow fish with golden yellow and add coral pink to the turtle's smiling mouth; leave the eye whites white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes along the shell edges and flipper spots to give the turtle a little more depth.
