Two buddies share this underwater scene: a grinning cartoon shark with big round eyes and a toothy smile, and a smiling baby sea turtle beside it. The shark curves through the water with its dorsal fin up and gill lines on its side. The little turtle looks up with an open, happy mouth, a simply patterned shell and dots on its flippers. Bubbles of different sizes float around them. Along the bottom, wavy seaweed grows on both sides of a sandy seabed dotted with small pebbles, a scallop shell and a spiral snail shell. Large shapes and clear outlines work for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the dots and shell sections give older kids something to chew on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big shark body, its fins and tail in ocean blue, leaving the two shark eye whites white.
- 2Fill the turtle head and both flippers with light lime green, keeping the turtle's eye whites white.
- 3Color the turtle shell chocolate brown and its belly golden yellow, with the rim in olive yellow.
- 4Color the seaweed strands in forest green and leaf green, leaving thin pale streaks white.
- 5Fill the clam shells in orchid pink, the bottom-right spiral shell in tangerine orange, and the sea rock in light gray.
- 6Add the shark's open mouth in soft red, the bubbles in light sky blue, and the turtle's mouth in bubblegum pink. Optional: add a few darker strokes in the same color for depth.
