Six Cupcakes on a Stand for Happy Birthday

Six frosted cupcakes rest on a scalloped two-tier dessert stand, three on the top plate and three below. A string of triangle bunting flags hangs across the top of the page, and the flags show polka dots, stripes, a heart and a diamond pattern. A few cupcakes wear a cherry and others a lit candle. The swirled frosting has sprinkles, little stars or hearts, and every cupcake sits in a ruffled paper liner with vertical lines. Big shapes and a plain background keep it easy for little hands, while the tiny sprinkles and flag patterns give older kids something to work on. Cherry red for the cherries could look good, with pastel pink, lavender and mint for the frosting swirls and bright yellow and orange for the flames.
