Six Smiling Easter Eggs in Heart Egg Cups

Six happy eggs with tiny smiling faces sit in footed egg cups on two wooden shelves, three to a shelf. Each cup carries a heart on the front, and little leafy sprigs stand at the sides of the top shelf. Every egg gets its own look: horizontal stripes, polka dots, little flowers, hearts, wavy lines and stars. The shelves show wood grain and have small brackets underneath. With bold patterns and fairly large shapes, kids can take the eggs one at a time using crayons or markers. Pink and red work well for the hearts and yellow for the stars, and a different pastel on each egg makes the whole set look like a spring display. Print the free PDF for some screen-free fun. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color both wooden shelves and the small brackets wood brown, leaving the little knots on the shelves white.
- 2Fill the egg cup bowls with ivory cream, then color the cup bases: butter yellow, light blue and lavender purple on the top row, and rose pink, bright yellow and lavender purple on the bottom row.
- 3Color the top left egg with bright yellow, light blue and rose pink stripes, and the top middle egg lavender purple with its dots left white.
- 4Color the top right egg bright yellow, then fill its flowers with light gold and golden yellow, leaving the remaining flower centers white.
- 5Color the bottom row: rose pink eggs with coral red hearts on the left, light blue wavy lines on the middle egg, and lime green with bright yellow stars on the right. Add coral red hearts to the cup fronts and leaves in leaf green.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading with a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the eggs for extra depth.
