Slam Dunk Time for Garfield
Coloring guide
Garfield flies high through the air with a basketball in one raised hand, just about to slam it through the hoop. He has on a backwards baseball cap, a loose jersey, baggy shorts and big high-top sneakers, and the sole of one shoe faces you with a tread pattern to color. His other hand grips the rim of a net, and his striped tail swings out behind him. Little stars sparkle around him, and a rickety wooden fence runs along the bottom. Wide shapes and bold outlines suit kids who like sports and cartoon cats, and the sneakers and net give older children some detail. Bright orange with dark stripes for Garfield, plus a team color like red or blue for the jersey and cap, works well. Print or download it free. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the big basketball in pumpkin orange, leaving the black seam lines untouched.
- 2Fill Garfield's face, tail, raised arm, hands and ears with orange, and color the legs in tan brown.
- 3Paint the shirt and sleeves royal blue, then the cap, shorts and shoe soles in bright red.
- 4Color the sneakers and socks: light gray for the laces, warm gray for the toe, sky blue and royal blue for the socks, and leave the white sock and wristband white.
- 5Fill the stars with golden yellow, keep the eye whites, teeth highlights and net white, and add dark shadows in charcoal black. Optional: add a few darker orange lines on the shadow side of the ball and arm for depth.
