This sleepy kitten has closed eyes and a tiny smile, and it's curled up in a woven basket with its chin on two little front paws. The pointed ears, fluffy cheek fur and striped forehead all have bold, clean outlines. A long striped tail wraps along its body, and a soft blanket is tucked under and around it. The basket is made of chunky woven bands, so there's lots of room for young colorers. Preschoolers can handle the big shapes, while the stripes and whiskers give older kids finer detail to practice. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the cat's head, curled body, and back with tangerine orange, leaving the cream paws and cheeks for later.
- 2Add rust orange stripes on the forehead, along the back, and across the middle and tip of the tail.
- 3Paint the blanket in sky blue, covering the folds under the cat, the left edge, and the right side that drapes over the basket.
- 4Color the woven basket in warm tan and pale gold, alternating the rows, and use chestnut brown for the darker gaps and the shadowed rim.
- 5Fill the inner ears with soft pink and the paws and cheek fur with cream, keeping the closed eyes and whisker lines as clean dark lines.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading with chestnut brown along the cat's underside and the basket edges to make the cozy scene pop.
