Mandala of a Sleeping Kitten with Paw Prints and Hearts

Curled up in the center of this round mandala is a sleepy tabby kitten with closed eyes, a tiny smile and long whiskers. Its head rests on its front paws, and stripes mark the forehead, back and tail. Two circular borders go around the cat: the inner ring alternates small hearts and stars, while the outer one is packed with paw prints and more hearts. Bold lines and open shapes make this free printable a good match for young children learning to color inside the lines. Soft orange and cream suit the stripes, with pinks and reds for hearts, yellow for stars and purples and blues for the paw prints. It also makes a nice calm-down activity during quiet time. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big outer ring and the outer edge of the mandala: color it lavender purple, working around the paw prints and hearts.
- 2Fill the inner circle behind the kitten with sky blue.
- 3Color the middle ring and the small stars with golden yellow, then fill the kitten's head, body and back with soft orange.
- 4Add burnt orange stripes on the head, back and tail, and color the inside of the ears baby pink.
- 5Color the hearts in the ring: alternate baby pink and bright red, then fill the paw pads with warm brown and the toe pads with light brown, leaving the kitten's front paws white.
- 6Optional: add a little extra shading on the cat's body with a slightly darker orange for depth.
