Sleepy Owl Tucked Inside a Tree Hollow

Coloring guide
This owl has settled into an oval tree hollow with its eyes gently closed and long lashes resting down. Its little claws grip a branch at the bottom. You will find pointed ear tufts, big round eye patches, a small triangle beak, folded wings on each side and a belly full of scalloped feather lines. Thick bark lines run up the trunk around the hollow, and leaves are tucked along the edges: two at the upper left, two on the right and a cluster at the bottom left. Large shapes and bold outlines keep it friendly for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the free printable copy is quick to grab. Soft tan and warm brown feathers look good next to deep green leaves, which helps the owl stand out against the trunk. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the owl's face and the tufts on top of its head: fill the face with soft cream and leave the closed eyes as dark lines, then color the head tufts in warm brown.
- 2Color the owl's belly and chest with pale butter, working the scalloped feather lines around the edges.
- 3Fill both wings and the wing tips with warm brown, and color the small branch under the owl in the same warm brown.
- 4Color the inside of the tree hollow with dark chocolate brown, working carefully around the owl's outline.
- 5Fill all the leaves with leaf green, then add the carrot orange beak and the golden yellow claws.
- 6Optional: Add a few light strokes of darker brown on the wings and inside the hollow for a textured, cozy look.
