Sleepy Seal Lounging on a Sunny Beach

Coloring guide
With heavy-lidded eyes, this sleepy little seal lounges on the sand, flippers folded over its round belly and whiskers curling out beside its smiling face. Wavy lines mark the sea behind it, and a simple sun with short rays sits in the top right corner. Small pebbles and tiny specks dot the sand, giving little hands extra spots to color. Thick, clean outlines and large open areas make it a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids learning to stay inside the lines. Silvery gray or warm brown suits the seal, with sandy yellow for the beach, blue for the waves and bright yellow for the sun. This free printable PDF is a calm pick for quiet time at home or school. It's filed under Lion on our site, but the picture shows a seal. Looking for more? Our Dinosaurs and Goat coloring pages pair nicely with this Seals & Sea Lions page.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- light gray
- sky blue
- golden yellow
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the whole seal, including its body, flippers, head and tail, with light gray, leaving the eye whites untouched.
- 2Color the small pebbles and rocks on the sand with the same light gray so they match the seal.
- 3Fill the sea bands on both sides of the horizon with sky blue, following the wavy lines.
- 4Color the sun's center with golden yellow, and keep the rays white for a bright, sunny look.
- 5Keep both eye whites, the sand and the sky white, then add a few small details in light gray on the face.
- 6Optional: add a few darker gray strokes along the seal's body and flippers to give it a soft, rounded shadow.
