Astronaut Planting a Flag on the Moon, Solar System & Space Fun
Coloring guide
Standing on a cratered moon surface, a young astronaut grips a tall flagpole stuck in the ground and smiles right at you. His big round helmet has headphone-style ear pieces, and the suit comes with a chest panel of buttons and dials, a belt, striped arms and legs, padded knees, chunky boots and a backpack. One glove is held out to his side. Earth floats in the sky behind him with its continents outlined, and the flag is left blank so kids can invent their own design. Craters big and small and scattered pebbles cover the ground. Bold, clear lines make this free printable a good fit for younger kids. Orange or light blue could suit the suit, with deep blue oceans and green land on Earth, and stripes or stars on the flag however your child likes. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the flag and the red stripes on the arms and knees with red.
- 2Fill the oceans on the globe with bright blue and the land masses with grass green, leaving the globe outline clean.
- 3Paint the face peach, the hair brown, and the visor top pale blue, keeping the visor shine light blue.
- 4Color the backpack, ears, chest panel, flagpole, and moon surface in light gray, then use dark gray for the belt, craters, rocks, and boot soles.
- 5Add the golden yellow ball on top of the flagpole and the bright blue and grass green buttons on the chest panel.
- 6Optional: Leave the suit, helmet, gloves, and boots white for a bright astronaut look, and add light shading on the gray parts.
