Crayons are ready for this scene of a little car with big eyes and a friendly smile rolling over an arched stone bridge. Under the arch, two fish leap from rippling water with small splashes, and a sailboat and a small motorboat float on the lake. More boats and another sailboat sit far off near the shore, with rolling hills, a few houses, tall trees and puffy clouds beyond. Bushes frame the bottom corners. Red or yellow suits the car, warm gray and tan work for the bridge bricks, and blue water will make the orange fish stand out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the water: color the big lake areas, including the water under the arch and at the front, in sky blue.
- 2Color the hills and the far banks in grass green, then fill the bushes and trees at the edges with forest green and lime green.
- 3Fill the bridge stones in sand beige, and the stones at the bridge ends and the pillars in tan brown for a little contrast.
- 4Paint the little car in bright red, add the golden yellow headlight, and use steel gray and charcoal gray on the wheels for depth.
- 5Finish with the fish in orange and coral pink details on the boat, and leave the sails and the white motorboat unpainted. Optional: add light sky blue to the clouds and windows for extra sparkle.
