Chameleon Says Hello to a Butterfly

On a curved branch, a cheerful chameleon with big round eyes holds out one hand so a butterfly can land on its fingertip. The tail curls into a neat spiral at the bottom left and small spikes run down its back. Large circles on its side make fun spots for contrasting colors. The butterfly has curled antennae and patterned wings with dots and rounded sections. Two big blossoms with simple petals and starry centers sit on the branch among pointed leaves. Bold, clean lines mean younger kids can use crayons while older ones go for markers or colored pencils. A bright green body with orange or purple spots suits the chameleon, and sunny yellow and blue wings on the butterfly will stand out against pink flowers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the chameleon's head, body, arm and legs in light green, leaving the big eye whites white.
- 2Color the flower petals in rose pink and the flower centers in golden yellow.
- 3Fill the leaves with forest green and paint the branch brown.
- 4Color the butterfly's top and lower wings in golden yellow and rose pink, its outer wing edges in violet purple, and its body in orange.
- 5Add dark green scales along the back and tail, grass green on the fingers, pale yellow on the belly, and golden yellow spots on the body.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the underside of the chameleon and the leaves for depth, and keep the highlights white.
