Flower Garden Peek-a-Boo with a Chameleon and Butterflies

Coloring guide
A happy chameleon with big round eyes and a wide grin peeks out from a thick cluster of blooms. Its head has a bumpy crest and dotted skin, one little foot holds onto a leaf, and the tail curls into a spiral on the left. The bottom of the page is packed with large open flowers with long stamens and lots of broad, veined leaves. Three spotted butterflies flutter overhead, and small bushy shapes sit at the edges in the background. Young colorers will find the big petals and leaves easy, and older kids can spend time on the chameleon's spots and the butterfly wings. Lime green with orange spots would make the chameleon stand out against pink or purple flowers. Print this free page whenever you want a quick coloring break. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the leaves and stems: fill the big leaves around the flowers with leaf green, and use forest green for the darker leaves at the edges and bottom.
- 2Color the chameleon's head and body with lime green, then fill the throat and arm area with yellow green, leaving the big eye whites unpainted.
- 3Fill the large flowers at the top and middle with bright red, and color the lower flower with coral pink, keeping the little flower centers and stamens white.
- 4Paint the butterflies: give the left one orange and golden yellow wings, the top right one sky blue with violet purple accents, and the small one light orange and lemon yellow.
- 5Add the snail shell in lemon yellow and finish the small details like the chameleon's spots and the leaf veins, leaving the background clouds white.
- 6Optional: add a slightly darker shade of each color along one side of the petals and leaves to make the page look more dimensional.
