Cheerful Chameleon Gripping a Leafy Branch

Coloring guide
This happy chameleon has one big round eye and a wide smile, and it holds onto a slim branch with its little toed feet. The long tail winds down into a tidy spiral. Curved stripes cross the body and tail, which splits the page into easy sections to color. You'll also spot small bumps along the back and a cute pointed crest on the rounded head. Two big leaves grow off the branch, one above and one below. Bold lines and wide-open shapes make it a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the free printable is simple to hand out at school or at home. Greens and yellows look nice on the body stripes. A bright orange or purple tail spiral will stand out against the leaves. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the chameleon's head crest, main body, front arm and lower body with lime green, leaving the eye and small shine spots for later.
- 2Color the spiky ridge along the back with orange, one spike at a time.
- 3Fill the stripes along the back and the tail rings with golden yellow and turquoise, alternating them as they wrap around the tail curl.
- 4Color the tree branch chestnut brown, then fill both large leaves and the small leaf behind the front foot with forest green.
- 5Leave the eye whites and the tiny shine dots on the eye and branch white so they pop.
- 6Optional: add a little darker shading along the belly and under the leaves to give the drawing more depth.
