At the water's edge, a friendly crocodile with a wide grin rests its chin on its front paws, and a small round bird sits right on top of its head. It has big sparkly eyes, a few visible teeth, and a curled, spotted tail with spiky ridges that arches up behind it. Tall cattails and blades of grass frame both sides of the page, and the foreground holds a gentle stream, a few smooth rocks, tufts of grass, and two simple flowers. Bold, clean outlines and large open shapes make this free printable easy for little hands. Bright green would be good for the crocodile, sunny yellow or light blue for the bird, and warm brown for the cattail tops. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the crocodile's head, body, back and tail with grass green, leaving the eye whites and the teeth white.
- 2Fill the spikes along the crocodile's back and tail with dark green, and add lime green to the round spots on its back.
- 3Color the bird's body bright yellow and its wing golden yellow, then add gray to its feet.
- 4Paint the tall reeds and grass blades with grass green and lime green, and color the cattail tops brown.
- 5Fill the flower petals with orchid purple and the small flowers with coral pink, then color the rocks light gray and the crocodile's belly pale yellow.
- 6Optional: add a little darker green along the lower edges of the body for depth, and leave the small shiny highlights white.
