This lively aquarium-style scene shows a happy dolphin leaping from the water and sailing through a big round hoop. The hoop hangs from a tall pole topped with a ball, and the pole stands on a square base at the right edge of the pool. Splashes and droplets fly around the dolphin's tail, and simple wavy lines mark the water. Behind a low stone wall, six smiling children watch from the stands, a few of them with curly or pigtailed hair. Large shapes and clear outlines suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the splashes and faces give older kids something to work on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big dolphin body and fins in sky blue, leaving the small highlight shine on its belly white.
- 2Color the hoop ring and its brackets in golden yellow and light gray, keeping the open space inside the hoop white.
- 3Fill the pool walls and the row of seats with beige and deep blue, and the pole and its base with light gray and dark gray.
- 4Add the pale ice blue stripe on the dolphin's belly, then the coral pink open mouth, keeping the teeth white.
- 5Color the spectators next: peach faces, brown and orange hair, and the lemon yellow, green, and lavender shirts.
- 6Finish with the splashes and water in light aqua and sky blue, leaving the background white. Optional: add a little darker blue along the dolphin's shadow side for depth.
