Smiling Dolphin Leaping Out of Splashing Waves

Smiling Dolphin Leaping Out of Splashing Waves coloring page

Coloring guide

A single dolphin arcs through the air with its head pointed down and its tail still dipping into the water. It has a small round eye, a curved smiling mouth and a long snout. You can see the dorsal fin on its back, a pectoral flipper tucked beneath its body and the forked tail at the lower right. Below it, splash shapes shoot up from the surface in rounded droplets and petal-like curves, with a few wavy lines across the bottom for the ocean. The outlines are bold and the dolphin's body is one large open space, so it works well for younger kids using crayons or markers. Try a smooth gradient from gray-blue on the back to a lighter shade on the belly, then use two or three blues for the splashes so they look like moving water. This free printable also suits a quick lesson on how dolphins jump.
