Dozens of small striped fish swim in every direction around a happy dolphin that leaps upward with a big smile and a bright, curious eye. Light rays stream down from the wavy surface at the top, and little round bubbles drift all across the scene. Tall wavy seaweed, branching coral and rounded rocks cover the seafloor at the bottom. The big dolphin body leaves lots of open space to color, and the many little fish give kids plenty of small shapes for careful practice. Soft blue and gray look good on the dolphin, maybe with a pale pink belly, and then every fish can get its own color to make a busy school. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the happy dolphin's body and fin in ocean blue, leaving the open mouth for later.
- 2Fill the water behind the fish with sky blue, keeping the fish bodies white with their outlines.
- 3Paint the seaweed in bright green and leaf green, adding a few lime green strokes for variety.
- 4Color the rocks at the bottom in warm brown and sandy tan, and fill the sandy patches with light gold.
- 5Add coral red to the coral clumps, pale yellow to the light rays at the top, and golden yellow to one fish. Optional: fill the dolphin's open mouth in coral pink.
