Dragonfly Pond Mandala with Water Lilies

At the center of this oval mandala sits a cheerful dragonfly with big round eyes, a happy smile and two curly antennae. Its four wings are filled with scalloped cells and its long body is split into neat segments, giving little hands lots of small spaces to color. Curved ripple lines spread out around it like water. Blooming water lilies alternate with round lily pads around the outside, and each pad has a small notch and a few vein lines. Dashed arcs form the oval border. It's a free printable that suits kids who like working one section at a time. Bright turquoise and green wings, pink or purple lily petals, and soft green pads will make the dragonfly stand out in the middle of the pond. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big pond circle: color the water areas around the dragonfly and between the lilies in sky blue, and add a few ripple lines with the same blue.
- 2Fill the lily pads in grass green, then color the dragonfly head, neck, and body in soft lime green, leaving the eyes white with black pupils.
- 3Color the wings with icy blue for the paler cells and pale aqua blue for the darker cells, working section by section.
- 4Paint the lotus flowers in rose pink for the outer petals, light pink for the middle petals, and blush pink for the centers.
- 5Color the lower part of the dragonfly abdomen in deep teal, then add a light touch of black line detail to the wings and petals.
- 6Optional: Add a bit of extra darkness to the outer edges of the petals and wings for more depth.
