Hopping Kangaroo Mom and Joey, Cute Animals to Color
Coloring guide
Mother kangaroo is leaping across a grassy hill with her front paws up, and a tiny joey peeks out of her pouch with a big smile. She has tall pointed ears, big sparkly eyes, an open happy mouth and a long curved tail stretching out behind. Her two big feet push off the ground mid-hop. Behind her are two round bushes, a few small leafy plants and tufts of grass along the rolling ground. Bold, clean outlines help younger kids stay inside the lines, and the fur detail on the cheeks and chest keeps older children busy. Soft sandy browns and warm tans for the kangaroos, pinker shades for the inner ears and noses, and fresh greens for the bushes would be nice. A sweet free printable for animal lovers, and a good way to chat about moms and babies.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- warm brown
- leaf green
- light peach
- rose pink
- chocolate brown
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the mom kangaroo's head, body, arms, legs, feet and long tail with warm brown, leaving the small gaps between her legs and by her arm white.
- 2Fill the joey's head with warm brown, and the mom's pouch edge too, so the baby blends with the body.
- 3Color the inside of the big ear and both inside joey ears with rose pink, then fill the pouch, the joey's muzzle and paws with light peach.
- 4Color the kangaroo's nose with chocolate brown, and keep the eye whites, shine spots and the teeth white.
- 5Color both bushes and the two small grass tufts with leaf green, and leave the ground and background white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of chocolate brown along the tail and the side of the body for a little depth.
