Big-Tire Monster Truck Grinning Under the Sun
Coloring guide
This monster truck has a big grin and wide, shiny eyes, and it sits on a plain strip of ground with three little grass tufts. There's a lot to color: huge knobby tires with chunky tread, coil springs over the wheels, a side mirror, a door with a handle, and four round lights lined up on the roof. The grille is made of neat horizontal lines. In the upper right corner, a bright sun with rounded rays does its shining. Bold outlines and large shapes are great for preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the tire treads give older kids something to focus on. A red or blue body looks good, with yellow for the sun and roof lights and dark gray on the tires. Print as many copies as you like, since it's free. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big body of the truck in bright red, including the hood, cab sides, and bumper area.
- 2Fill the two large tires and the back tire with charcoal gray, leaving the small tread notches for later.
- 3Color the windows in pale blue and the grille, face, and bumper area in light gray, keeping the eye whites white.
- 4Paint the sun, the roof lights, and the hub centers with bright yellow, then add the spring coils in sky blue and the shock rod in deep blue.
- 5Use golden orange on the tail light and the small details, and keep the background, the ground line, and the grass white.
- 6Optional: Add darker shading on the tires and light gray shading on the grille to make the truck look more rounded.
