A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.

1. 1Start with the sky and background: color the sun golden yellow and the mountains steel blue, then add grass green to the trees and bushes.
2. 2Fill the grandstand roof and the blue stand panels with light sky blue and warm brown, leaving the spectators and barrier walls white.
3. 3Color the middle car in bright red, including its body, rear wing and helmet area, then add bright blue to the left car and golden yellow to the right car.
4. 4Fill the race track with medium gray and the tires with charcoal gray, keeping the finish line squares white and alternating the red squares as you go.
5. 5Add the details: pale yellow stripes on the right car, bright red stripes on the barrier wall, and bright blue on the left car's nose and wing, keeping the car eyes white.
6. 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the tires and track edges with charcoal gray to make the scene pop.
