At the top of this underwater scene, a cheerful baby sea turtle swims along and grins down at a stream of round bubbles drifting up from a small volcano's crater. Three striped fish with big friendly eyes swim close by, one on the left, one in the middle and one on the right. Down below, the cone-shaped volcano rests on a sandy seabed with pebbles, ringed by tall wavy seaweed, branching coral and tube-shaped sponges. The bubbles come in lots of sizes, which makes them fun to fill in and good practice for little hands. You could try bright green for the turtle's shell, orange and yellow stripes on the fish, and warm browns and reds for the volcano. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky-blue bubbles floating above the volcano and around the swimming turtle and fish, leaving the small white highlight circles empty.
- 2Color the turtle's shell in chocolate brown and its head and flippers in yellow green, leaving the little white spots on the head as they are.
- 3Fill the three fish with bright orange and amber orange stripes, keeping the white stripes and eye whites white.
- 4Color the volcano and its base in taupe brown, then add bright orange at the crater rim and lava spilling down the slopes.
- 5Add the seaweed in leaf green and lime green, the corals in coral pink, and the purple tube coral on the right, then color the sandy seabed in sand beige and the rocks in gray.
- 6Optional: Add a few darker strokes of dark green on the seaweed and a light touch of golden yellow on the turtle's shell edge for depth.
