Chubby Seal Lounging on an Ice Floe

Coloring guide
Out in the middle of the water, a chubby seal with big round eyes, whiskers and a happy smile lounges on a flat block of ice, flippers stretched out in front. Simple wavy lines show the sea behind it, two rocky icebergs sit on the horizon, and four puffy clouds drift in the sky. The edges of the ice floe are cracked, which is fun to shade. The seal's big smooth body leaves lots of open space for younger kids, and the waves and clouds give older kids small details to fill in. Grey or warm brown looks good on the seal, pale icy blue on the floe and icebergs, and a deeper blue on the water. A free printable that fits a quiet afternoon or an ocean animal lesson. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the seal's body, both flippers and the shoulder area with medium gray, working in smooth strokes.
- 2Fill the clouds, both icebergs and the ice floe blocks with sky blue, leaving the bright top of the ice floe and the iceberg highlights white.
- 3Use light gray on the seal's muzzle and the small crack lines in the ice floe to add soft contrast.
- 4Keep the water and background white, so the waves stay clean and simple.
- 5Optional: Add a little darker gray along the bottom of the seal's body and under the flippers to give it a bit of shadow.
